  1. Version 1.0.1 of F/A-18 Mission Chooser has been posted to
  2. sumex-aim.stanford.edu and Chemotaxis.biology.utah.edu.

  4. No fixes or added functionality, just cut the size in half.

  7. Q:  What does it do?
  8.  
  9. A:  The F/A-18 Mission Chooser (FA18-MC) allows you to choose the next
  10.     mission a pilot will fly in F/A-18 Hornet.

  13. Q:  Why the hell did v1.0 need to be 150k?
  14.  
  15. A:  It didn't need to be. F/A-18 Mission Chooser evolved from some generic
  16.     roll-yer-own class libraries and I just didn't take the time to
  17.     remove the overhead.

  19.     I have since cut much of the uselessness out and v1.0.1 has shrunk
  20.     to about half the original size (72k).  If the size is still a
  21.     problem, you can cut the "pretty pictures" out of the resource fork
  22.     and it will shrink to about 40k.

  25. Q:    F/A-18 Mission Chooser corrupted my PILOT file!

  27. A:    Yes, it can happen.  If you have a weak heart you should only use
  28.     FA18-MC on copies of your pilot files.
  29.     
  30.     The corruption occurs when you complete a mission and open the pilot
  31.     with FA18-MC without first choosing Get Next Mission in FA18
  32.     Hornet.  The fix?  Always choose Get Next Mission before using
  33.     FA18-MC.

  36. Q:    Can you revive my pilot?

  38. A:    Perhaps, but first someone will need to find the portion of the
  39.     data file that tells whether the pilot is dead or not.  If anyone
  40.     tracks it down, send it to me and I'll put a revive pilot feature in
  41.     FA18-MC.  It would also be fairly easy to add mission medals and
  42.     kills if that portion of the data file could be found.
